Our Nervous System Scans and Why We Use Them

Here's something I wish every parent knew: your child doesn't have to show symptoms for their body to be under stress. And the same goes for you!

At Your Family Chiropractic, we don't guess about your health—we measure it. That's why we use CLA INSiGHT scanning technology in our office. These scans give us a window into how your nervous system is functioning, showing us exactly where your body is holding stress and how well you're adapting to the demands of daily life.

What Are INSiGHT Scans?

Think of INSiGHT scans as a report card for your nervous system. They're completely non-invasive (no radiation or frequencies going through your body, no discomfort—just gentle sensors measuring your heart rate and moving along your spine), and they take only a few minutes to complete. We use them on everyone, including infants and pregnant women, because nervous system health matters at every stage of life.

The scans measure three key things: how your nervous system is functioning, where tension and stress are building up in your body, and how well your body is adapting to physical, chemical, and emotional stressors. This information helps us understand where your body needs support and allows us to create a personalized care plan tailored specifically to you and your family's needs.

Why Your Nervous System Matters

Your nervous system is the master control center for everything in your body. Every breath, every heartbeat, every movement, every thought—it all happens because of your nervous system. When your nervous system is under stress, it affects how well your body can function. This can show up as sleep disturbances, digestive issues, frequent illness, irritability, low energy, and so much more.

For infants, nervous system stress might look like difficulty latching, favoring looking to one side, or reflux and constipation. In children, it can show up as emotional dysregulation, chronic ear infections, or trouble sleeping. And for adults? Trouble sleeping, frequent headaches, feeling constantly on edge, or that feeling of being "tired but wired."

Surprisingly enough, common does not mean normal. Just because these issues are widespread doesn't mean your body is supposed to function this way.

How We Use Scans in Your Care

When you come in for your first visit, we start with a comprehensive nervous system scan. This gives us a baseline—a starting point so we can see where your body is holding tension and stress. Then, as we work together through your care plan, we rescan periodically to track changes your body is making.

Here's what makes this so powerful: you can actually see the changes happening in your body. We show you your scans side by side, and you can watch as areas of stress decrease and your nervous system becomes more balanced. It's visual proof that your body is healing and adapting better to stress.

These scans guide our chiropractic adjustments. Instead of just addressing where you feel pain, we're able to pinpoint the specific areas where your nervous system needs support. This allows us to provide targeted care that addresses the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Who Are These Scans For?

Everyone.

We scan expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies to support their changing bodies and ensure their nervous system is functioning optimally for birth. We scan newborns within days of birth to address any stress from the birthing process. We scan toddlers navigating big developmental milestones, kids heading back to school, and parents juggling a million responsibilities.

You don't have to be in pain to benefit from understanding how your nervous system is functioning. In fact, some of our healthiest families come in regularly for wellness scans to stay ahead of stress before it becomes a problem.

Your Body Knows What It's Doing

At Your Family Chiropractic, our goal isn't just to get you out of pain—it's to help your body function at its best so you can thrive. The INSiGHT scans are one of the tools that help us do that with precision and confidence.
